“Küçük Tekneler İçin Fırtına Uyarısı,” a Turkish translation of American playwright Tennessee Williams’s “Small Craft Warnings” is on stage this month at the Bilkent Theater Hall, presented by Department of Performing Arts students as a senior project. The production had its premiere on December 12 and will run through December 27.
The play depicts lonely and desperate individuals excluded from so-called society, and their struggles to interact with others. The characters serve as embodied versions of the deep fears people keep hidden inside, and the fragilities that they hide from themselves as well as from others.
The Bilkent production is directed by Jason Hale and performed in Turkish; the translation is by Barkın Kenan. Cast members are Ege Derin, Toygun Elaldı, Kutay Karagülle, Oğuzhan Keskin, Rengim Melis Köse, Damla Makar, and Haydar Özkan, with a guest appearance by State Theater artist Edip Tümerkan. Set design is by Özlem Gezginler, costume design by Samiye Korkmaz and lighting design by Yılmaz Ertekin.
Students taking GE250–251 will receive 20 course points for attending the play.
