On February 4, the high representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, delivered a talk on “The Initiative of the Alliance of Civilizations” as part of the International Relations Research Seminar series.
Mr. Moratinos has committed his professional and political career to international relationships and development cooperation, most notably as Spain’s minister of foreign affairs and cooperation from 2004 to 2010. As a true believer in the value of multilateralism, he helped in the creation and launching of the UN Alliance of Civilizations in 2005. Mr. Moratinos assumed his new post as high representative of the Alliance on January 7 of this year.
The ambassador of Spain to Ankara as well as other diplomats attended Mr. Ángel’s talk, which was followed by a lively exchange with IR students.
