This year’s GE100 Orientation, a course designed to welcome incoming students and acclimatize them to the university’s academic and social environment, took place over three days beginning September 15.
Besides introducing students to a new, intellectually stimulating academic environment, GE100 offers activities and opportunities designed to contribute to students’ personal development and enable them to become active members of their new community.
During the three-day orientation, students collected the points necessary to receive credit for completing the course by attending seminars, classical music concerts and department introductions. These activities helped new Bilkenters become acquainted with the university, its academic options and its other resources.
Students also explored the campus, including the dormitories, classrooms, studios, laboratories, sports centers and other indoor and outdoor facilities, and were introduced to the Bilkent University Library, the venue for many social and cultural activities as well as a center for study and research. In addition, they had the opportunity to join any of the university’s numerous student clubs and societies.
