Twice a year, the Bilkent Young Entrepreneurs Society holds an event called “Business Talks.” Last semester the event took place in Berlin, considered by some Europe’s capital of innovation and startups.
During this, the 12th Business Talks, Bilkent students had the opportunity to gain information of potential significance for their future careers and add influential businesspeople to their communication networks. Over the five days of the event, they visited 12 companies – Biotronik, IKEA, Ableton, KPMG, Metro, Microsoft, Siemens, Autolabs, Delivery Hero, Dalia Research, Blaklane and Mercedes – some of which are among the largest and most successful organizations in their sectors.
Every visit included a presentation specially prepared for Bilkent students, a meeting where students asked questions and exchanged ideas with senior executives in their offices, and finally a tour.
Many participants declared that the most memorable experience during Business Talks was their encounter with Michael Peter, the CEO of Siemens Mobility. The students met with Mr. Peter over dinner after visiting the Siemens Mobility office. During the dinner, which lasted late into the evening, the visitors had ample time to talk with their host, listen as he shared his experience of business life, and receive advice that may be of great help to them as they shape their career paths.
In addition to the companies, the students also visited the Embassy of Turkey, where they met with Undersecretary Ali İhsan İzbul and asked questions about diplomatic relations.
