Televised Debate Held at Bilkent

“Siyaset Meydanı”, a respected television forum anchored by Ali Kırca, was broadcast live from Bilkent University on March 4. Murat Karayalçın and Serhan Yücel, both of whom are running for mayor were the guests. Murat Karayalçın, served as mayor of municipality of Ankara between 1989-1994, and was a part of many projects. Serhan Yücel on the other hand, is the youngest candidate running for mayor of the capital.

The program was made up of two parts, each candidate having his turn to talk about his plans and ideas. Students asked many questions on various subjects, including the slums around Ulus, the garbage problem at Mamak, the emblem of Ankara and supporting arts. The elections will be on March 28. Good luck to all the candidates!

Radio Bilkent is Looking for You

Radyo Bilkent offers students the opportunity to work in an excellent environment where you will have the chance to gain work experience during spare time in your academic life. The application forms are available at the Radio Bilkent desks located at the Computer Center, at Kıraç, and at FEASS on Wednesday, between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. On Thursday, instead of at Kıraç you can fill in the application forms at Career Days.

Career Week Has Begun

If you missed the first Career Day events yesterday, you'd better not miss the others that are going to be held this week!
Today, for example, you can participate in the PricewaterhouseCoopers Sector Information Session and two other Personal Development Seminars organized by the Human Resources Management and Academy International.
The “Unilever Academy” Education Program is also a great opportunity for you to experience and learn about business life; it will be offered Wednesday, March 10. The 6th Career Fair, on Thursday, March 11, is another career event where you can meet different companies' representatives and learn about their recruitment policies. On the last day of the week, the European Patent Office and the Crowne Plaza Hotel will be holding their Firm Information Seminars, and the Unilever Case Study will be offered as the final program.

Bilkent Professors Elected to Positions in IEEE Computer Society

Asst. Prof. Uğur Güdükbay, faculty of the Department of Computer Engineering, has been elected as the IEEE Computer Society, Turkey Chapter Chair, for two years. Asst. Prof. İbrahim Körpeoğlu, on the faculty in the same department, was elected as the Chapter Secretary.
The IEEE Computer Society is dedicated to advancing the theory, practice, and application of computer and information processing technology. The society fosters international communication, cooperation, and information exchange.
Currently the IEEE Computer Society, Turkey Chapter, has over 250 members from different universities, companies and organizations in Turkey.
