From the Student Council
Dear Friends,
The December 26th tsunami disaster in South Asia resulted in the deaths of 280,000 people.
Many more were injured, and still more lost their homes.
We Bilkent students can help the tsunami victims. The Bilkent University Student Council
and the Bilkent Education Club, in cooperation with the UNICEF Turkish National Committee,
are organizing a concert, "Shakespeare Çağ rı," on Thursday, February 10 at 8 p.m.
at the Bilkent Concert Hall. Yıldız Kenter and Prof. Talat Halman will participate in
this concert with their presentation, "Turkish Shakespeare." Income from the
concert will go to the disaster victims.
Also, the Turkish Red Crescent Society is running a donation campaign for the victims. The
Red Crescent has opened a separate bank account for Bilkenters who would like to make
donations:
Yapı Kredi Bank,
Sıhhiye Branch,
Account No: 1018213-9
Thank you in advance for your support.

Students Win Marketing Competition
The Bilkent University MBA team, consisting of Emrah Çetin, Gönenç Altınoklar and
Ozan Erinçkan, has won the first Marketing Challenge, a marketing case competition
organized by the Koç University Marketing Club. MBA teams from Bilkent, Koç, Boğaziçi,
Bilgi and Middle East Technical Universities participated in the event, which took place
at Koç University on December 24-25.
For the competition, the teams were given a theoretical case that challenged them to help
a Turkish finance company (Garanti Leasing) overcome a financial crisis. Jurors were
top-level executives from prominent companies including Koç Holding, Doğuş Holding,
Coca-Cola and Garanti Leasing. After two rounds of competition, the jury chose the Bilkent
team as the winner.
In an interview with NTV, Bilkent MBA team representative Ozan Erinçkan observed that
Bilkent's program equips students to meet the challenges of today's business world, as the
results of the competition demonstrated. He stated, "As a Bilkent electrical and
electronics engineering graduate, I made the correct decision when I chose to get my MBA
degree at Bilkent, where the curriculum is perfectly designed to train future
executives."
