Hearts Travel along Railway Lines
The Railway Line Support Project, a branch of Bilkent University Social Awareness Project (TDP) in which the volunteers travel by rail to visit a primary school, visited Pazaryeri, Bilecik at the Demirköy 60.Yıl Osman Şıklar Primary School between April 23 and 25.
Thirty-three volunteers took part and stayed in a sleeping car hired from TCDD (Turkish State Railways).
In this, the eighth year of the project, volunteers prepared a variety of activities for the students, such as Ebru art, model aircraft making, a rhythm workshop, clay ceramics, a crafts workshop, sand painting, chess, wall painting, mask making, scouting, brain teasers, a treasure hunt, scientific experiments, planting tree saplings and flowers, Hacivat Karagöz shadow puppets theatre, a kite festival, and sports.
Along with all of the fun, the project was able to establish a new library with donated books, arrange a laboratory, and donate a computer and a projector. The villagers offered their hospitality to the volunteers, and they enjoyed the entertainment organized by the volunteers.
The main goal was to help foster the dreams of students while spending a great time filled with happiness and joy. The volunteers hope they helped the children realize how precious they are.
