EX LIBRIS: News from the Library
The Library would like to welcome all students back after the inter-semester break. We hope you had a pleasant holiday and are ready for the new semester! The Library, of course, has continued to work during the break. Our upgraded catalog, mentioned in the last "Ex Libris" article, is now up and running, along with our new website. We hope they will improve access to library information and data, and we welcome all feedback and comments.
This week on February 7, Prof. Ahmet İnam, the well-known author and philosopher, will be delivering a talk entitled "Candan Gönüle" at the Library as part of our series "Türk Yazarları Bilkent'te" (Turkish Writers at Bilkent). The talk will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the Art Gallery of Main Campus Library.
We are currently finalizing the Library Lunchtime Lectures for this semester. Our speakers will include Prof. Tomris Türmen, director of the International Children's Center, who will talk about child brides in Turkey on April 5, and Prof. Ömer Dağ, from the Chemistry Department, who will speak one month later. Our third speaker will be announced soon. Please watch out for further news in future issues of Bilkent News!
Also, we would like to inform everyone that March 26-30 will be "Library Week" in Turkey. To celebrate this, Bilkent University Library is planning a series of special events, including some musical and dance activities and also a short-story competition for undergraduate students. In addition, this semester we are planning some special library-related events as part of the GE 250-251 Collegiate Activities course for second-year students. We hope to announce these soon.
Please remember to keep up to date with library resources and events by "liking" our Facebook page or following our new library blog.
