As I have seen on the internet, everybody seems so depressed because of the weather. I know that the cold reminds us of slow songs and a little bit of pain. So, I've tried to list what are for me the 20 saddest songs, to go with these "depression days." It's very subjective list, and I know there are also classic sad songs like "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. However, this list is composed of more recent songs that have had an effect on my life. Here are the tracks and some lines from the songs.

Homesick by Kings of Convenience
A song for
Someone who needs somewhere
To long for
Homesick
‘Cause I no longer know
Where home is

Wishing by John Frusciante
Do you throw it in the well
Wishing you had someone to tell
What it was that you wished for
So it couldn't come true anymore

Terrible Love by The National
And I can't fall asleep
Without a little help
It takes a while
To settle down
My ship of hopes
Wait till the past leaks out

Fix You by Coldplay
Tears stream down on your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down on your face
And I...

Somewhere Only We Know by Keane
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go, somewhere only we know,
Somewhere only we know

Naked As We Came by Iron and Wine
She says "If I leave before you, darling
Don't you waste me in the ground"

Run by Snow Patrol
To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbye
I nearly do

Day Is Done by Nick Drake
When the day is done
Down to earth then sinks the sun
Along with everything that was lost and won
When the day is done.

Back to Black by Amy Winehouse
We only said good-bye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to black

Home by Mumford and Sons
And I was sorry for what I'd done
You were young I was not old
But our story was not told
But torn apart by greedy hands

Cold Desert by Kings of Leon
Here's to you, here's to me
On to us.
Nobody knows, nobody sees, nobody but me.

Drugs Don't Work by The Verve
But I know I'm on a losing streak
As I passed down by your street
And if you wanna show, then just let me know
And I'll sing in your ear again

Fall at Your Feet by Crowded House
And whenever I fall at your feet
Won't you let your tears rain down on me?
Whenever I touch your slow turning pain

Mad World by Gary Jules
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

Black by Pearl Jam
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky, but why, why, why
Can't it be, can't it be mine

Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley
Well baby I've been here before
I've seen this room and I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew ya
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

I Know It's Over by The Smiths
And I know it's over - still I cling
I don't know where else I can go
Over and over and over and over
Over and over, la ...
I know it's over
And it never really began
But in my heart it was so real

Stop Crying Your Heart Out by Oasis
'Cause all of the stars have faded away
Just try not to worry, you'll see them someday
Take what you need and be on your way
And stop crying your heart out

I Can't Make You Love Me by Bon Iver
'Cause I can't make you love me, darling
If you don't
You can't make your heart feel
Something it won't
Oh, here in the dark
In these final hours
I will lay down my heart
If you feel the power, but you won't
Oh, you don't

No Surprises by Radiohead
You look so tired and unhappy
Bring down the government
They don't, they don't speak for us
I'll take a quiet life
A handshake of carbon monoxide
