"What Can Be More Valuable Than a Child's Life?"

On April 1-2, the ''Hearts 1 Leukemia 0'' project of TDP (Social Awareness Projects) had a stand open in front of A Building. With the support of LÖSEV (The Foundation for Children with Leukemia), Bilkent student volunteers for the project sold items including rag dolls, pillows, cups and badges. All of the products were handmade by mothers of children and young people with leukemia. Revenue from the stand's sales will go toward the treatment of leukemia patients.

With the slogan "What can be more valuable than a child's life?" as its inspiration, the stand reached its goal. At the end of the two days, all of the items had been sold and the total revenue was even higher than expected, because people had not only purchased products but also made monetary donations to LÖSEV.

In addition to special projects such as this one, Hearts 1 Leukemia 0 also has ongoing activities. Every Sunday, Bilkent students visit children with leukemia at area hospitals, wearing clown outfits in order to amuse the young patients while playing and talking with them. The group welcomes all who are interested in joining: tdp@bilkent.edu.tr.
