İhsan Doğramacı's 98th Birthday Commemorated April 3: Bilkent Day

April 3, the birthday of Bilkent's founder, Prof. İhsan Doğramacı, has come to be known on campus as Bilkent Day. This year, the 98th anniversary of Prof. Doğramacı's birth, commemorative events were as always held at the university in honor of the occasion.
A highlight of the day was the celebration organized by the School of Applied Technology and Management at Le Piment Rouge Restaurant. A banquet was prepared and served by students of the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, who were extremely happy to contribute to the event by preparing the dishes and serving their guests. These included the Doğramacı family and members of the university administration. Chef Elif Denizci created a special menu for the occasion, and students under her supervision prepared the food. The service was superbly handled by students under the supervision of Service Instructor Ali Ünal.

Board of Trustees Meets

The Bilkent University Board of Trustees met on April 3, 2013. Present at the meeting were Board Chairman Ali Doğramacı, Vice Chairman Ergün Toğrol, Lucien Arkas, İlker Baybars, Gülsev Kale, Ali Karaosmanoğlu, Ahmet Nalbur, Şencan Özme, Muhsin Saraçlar, Lütfü Sel, Ergül Tunçbilek, Z. Boğaç Üner and Rector Abdullah Atalar.
At the meeting, the Board reviewed several proposals, which included the University Senate's motion concerning the international exchange program regulations.
Following this, Prof. Ergül Tunçbilek was appointed as another vice chairman of the Board of Trustees by Chairman Ali Doğramacı.
Finally, the Board reviewed and approved the motion to establish an advisory board for the Board of Trustees. The Advisory Board shall meet once a year, to offer advice, suggestions and recommendations regarding various subjects.
The Board of Trustees' next meeting is scheduled for Friday, June 7.
US Assistant Secretary of State Speaks at Bilkent
US Assistant Secretary of State Kerri-Ann Jones was at Bilkent University on Friday, April 5. Hosted by the Entrepreneurship Center in the Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Jones attended a MAN 483 (Entrepreneurial Management) class session and spoke to students, faculty members and entrepreneurs about the role of entrepreneurship and innovation in addressing regional and global challenges.

Eastern Mediterranean University's Library Named for Prof. Oral
On March 27, the library of Eastern Mediterranean University was named in honor of Prof. Özay Oral, faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Prof. Oral served as rector of Eastern Mediterranean University from 1992-2003.
