Radio Bilkent Classic, which was established after Radio Bilkent Alternative, has been working for about a year toward the goal of broadcasting on a regular basis. Finally, that dream has come true.
Through a new partnership with Radio 2, the former TRT-Tourism Radio broadcasting on 100.3 MHz, Radio Bilkent Classic will be on the air for three hours a week as of October 15.
"There is a need for classical music production both in TRT and in Turkey," says Ms. Şebnem Savaşçi, a renowned classical music announcer at TRT for years. The students involved in the effort are being trained by Ms. Savaşçi to improve their oral presentation skills and articulation, and Mr. Ayhan Erman, who teaches at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, is training the group in program production.
TRT will begin broadcasting Radio Bilkent Classic programs on a trial basis and the amount of air time given to the students may increase depending on their performance and commitment.
Radio Bilkent Classic group members working on production and broadcasting are: Murat Beşik (Music), Ayşegül Deniz Çelebi (Tourism), Özgecan Karadağli (Music), Zafer Aydın (Electronics), Ferda Yücekaya (Music), and Atilla Çağdaş Değer (Music). As part of the production, the group will also prepare digital audio tapes (DAT).
