Associate Professor Billur Barshan of Bilkent's Department of Electrical Engineering has won the 1998 Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) Young Investigator Award for her work on the development of novel sensing systems and sensor data fusion techniques for mobile robots.
Dr. Barshan received her PhD from Yale University in 1991 and joined Bilkent in 1993 after her postdoctoral studies at Oxford University.
The award is given to individuals under age 40 who have demonstrated the potential to make contributions to science that are significant at an international level.
The awards ceremony will take place in November.
