Bilkent Leads in Social Science Citation Index

Bilkent's social science faculty once again outperformed their colleagues at Turkey's top universities by leading the nation in the number of papers published in 1997 in the world's leading social science journals.

Sweat for the Republic!

The Physical Education and Sports Center is organizing Aerobics/Step/ Funk/Master Class '98 in connection with the Republic's anniversary celebrations. The class will be held on Wednesday, November 18, between 6 - 7:30 p.m. The program will be run by Bilkent's step/aerobic instructors. It is open to students and personnel of Bilkent, Middle East Technical, Ankara, Başkent, Hacettepe, and Gazi universities. The first 110 people who register will receive a 75th Anniversary t-shirt.

Sight to See in the Sky

Fancy doing something different this November? Why not join sky watchers around the world the night of Tuesday, November 17, as they await the spectacular return of the Leonids, a meteor shower linked to Comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle. Though this comet passes by earth every year at this time, experts are cautiously predicting a repeat of the great meteor storm that broke over the earth in November 1966 when more than 10,000 meteors per hour were observed in some locations.

President and Rector to Receive Honorary Doctorates

Professors İhsan Doğramacı and Ali Doğramacı will be presented with honorary doctorates by De Montfort University in Leicester, England, during a ceremony on the De Montfort campus Wednesday, November 18.

De Montfort University administrators are impressed with Bilkent University's development and accomplishments, and in recognition of these achievements the University's board voted unanimously to bestow Doctorate of Letters-Honoris Causa on Bilkent's President and Rector.
