Elections for Department Representatives in Progress

Today, Tuesday, November 22, is the first round of elections for Department Representatives.

Eligible students are strongly encouraged to vote. Voting will be done
electronically, from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

The names of the candidates and eligible voters are posted at www.bilkent.edu.tr/konsey
You can choose to vote at any of the stations listed below, no matter what your department is, and need only to have your student ID card with you. (Continued)
 

Prof. Orhan Güvenen Nominated a Candidate for ISI President

Prof. Orhan Güvenen, Chairman of the Department of Accounting Information Systems, and Director of the Institute of World Systems, Economies and Strategic Research at Bilkent, has been named a candidate for the 2007-2009 presidency of the International Statistical Institute (ISI). The ISI was founded in 1852; this is the first time in its history that a Turk has been nominated as a presidential candidate. (Continued)
 

Computer Engineering Department Impresses ABET Team

Bilkent's Computer Engineering Department has recently received a strong affirmation that it meets a high standard of educational excellence.
A team of professors from ABET, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, visited the Computer Engineering Department on November 7 and 8, as part of the substantial equivalency evaluation process. Their findings were highly favorable. (Continued)

Ankara Cats Hand Judges a Surprise Defeat, 25-14

The Bilkent Judges American football team, fresh from their 129-2 rout
(a Turkish university league record) of Sakarya the week before, took to their home field to face the Ankara Cats this past Saturday, November 19. However, despite another strong offensive performance, particularly in the second half, the Judges went down to defeat by a score of 25-14.

The Judges' next game will be against the Hacettepe Red Deers on Saturday, December 3, at Bilkent, at 12:30 p.m. We encourage all Bilkenters to come out and support their team! Go Judges!

Shakespeare's "Dream" a Success at Bilkent

Bilkent Department of Performing Arts students are currently performing
Shakespeare's famous comedy, "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Bilkent News spoke with director Tsotne Nakashidze and cast members Ege Maltepe and Tankut Yıldız to gain some insight into their ideas about the play in
general, and the Bilkent production in particular.
Bilkent News: To begin with, can you explain briefly what the story is
about?
