Love and Marriage Discussed by Novelist İnci Aral

Novelist İnci Aral visited Bilkent University to present "Love and Marriage in a Relationship" on Thursday, December 23. Aral's visit was hosted by Türkçe Topluluğu (Turkish Language Society).

Aral began her literary career in 1977 by publishing short stories in various literary magazines. Her first book of short stories was published in 1979 and was awarded a prestigious literary prize. Since then İnci Aral has published nearly twenty books. Her collection of short stories Forty Degrees in the Shade (2000) was awarded the Yunus Nadi Short Story Prize, and her 2003 novel Purple won the Orhan Kemal Novel Award.

Aral will be publishing her new novel in March. Before giving her talk, Aral toured campus to gather inspiration for her new book.

Aral mostly emphasizes love and the relationship between couples in her novels. Titles include Mor, Sadakat, and Safran Sarı. In her talk, she emphasized love and women and evaluated the relationship between women and men. Aral's visit to Bilkent was met with great interest by students and teachers, so C Blok Auditorium was very crowded. At the end of the visit, Aral answered questions and thanked the Turkish Language Society. She signed copies of her books that were brought by her readers.
