The Little Things

  • I hate waking up, trying to figure out why I am freezing, only to find my bedsheets on the floor.
  • I hate that last sip of a hot liquid in the cup; it's always so cold.
  • I love vanilla and strawberries in all their variations but chocolate only in bar form.
  • I believe eyeliner is the only piece of make-up that is worth my while.
  • Forgetting to take your umbrella with you on a rainy day, particularly if you actually realize that it is raining and make a mental note to take an umbrella with you, may be the saddest thing in the world.
  • Paul McCartney is my favorite Beatle. I really can't see it any other way.
  • I remember Teacher's Day (November 24) only because it is also the day Freddy Mercury died.
  • İstanbul-style stuffed mussels offer the biggest disappointment in the world.
  • I am ashamed to admit it, but I actually enjoy Céline Dion in French (and in French only!).
  • I think Dr. Gregory House may be one of the most impressive and exciting human beings in the world. The fact that he is a fictional character does not speak well for the world.
  • I have kept a diary since I was in the fourth grade, but I tend to write more often when I am feeling depressed.
  • I have a knack for remembering useless bits of information pretty accurately, but I have a hard time remembering faces and names. I usually have to be introduced to people more than once.
  • There's something inherently funny about the word "shampoo." Try saying it out loud a few times.
  • For some reason I never carry pen and paper with me. This causes the loss of many a great idea, but I never learn.
  • I can't even imagine not being able to read or write.
  • I sometimes dream about forgetting Turkish for a day, just so I can finally know what it sounds like to people who don't speak it.
  • I enjoy writing lists, but I don't get to do it often.
  • This enjoyable way of writing is disrupting my sense of how long this article is getting, so I think I'll end it here. I highly recommend making a list of your own little random things. It's a lot of fun coming up with them.
