Bilkent Greets New Exchange Students
Bilkent University welcomed exchange and visiting students for the fall semester with an orientation program held from September 1 to 8. This year Bilkent is hosting 110 exchange students from the United States, Denmark, Spain, Slovenia, and China; and 90 full time students from Azerbaijan, United Kingdom, Iran, and Georgia. The orientation program included visits to historical places, museums, and Anıtkabir, as well as field trips, introductory campus workshops, dinners and lunches displaying traditional Turkish hospitality. Workshops included "Turkey's International Relations," by Asst. Prof. Nur Bilge Criss, of the Department of International Relations, and "A Foreigner's Perspective," by Paul Kimball, instructor in the Cultures, Civilizations and Ideas Program. The new students also had the chance to visit Beypazarı and Fethiye. A course given by Turkish Unit Instructors gave them the opportunity to learn basic communication skills in Turkish.
In the 2009-2010 academic year, 184 Bilkent University students attended different universities in Europe and the United States as exchange students.
