Fall has officially come to Ankara, and that means time to say goodbye to our shorts, t-shirts and, of course, to the songs of the summer. That's why I'd like to make a list here of the songs of the summer of 2011. The list includes tracks that were not necessarily released during the summer but were also listened to during the hot days. In addition, I'd like to present the choices of some people who I believe have good taste in music. So, here are the songs of the summer:

Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People
I want to say this once and for all: In my opinion, "Pumped Up Kicks" is the song of the summer. The band called it "a f**k you song," and it reached the top of many music charts.

The Bay by Metronomy
Metronomy released one of the best albums of 2011. "The English Riviera" consists of lots of hit songs, but because of both the video clip and the release date, "The Bay" was one of the greatest hits of the summer.

If You Wanna by The Vaccines
The Vaccines released their debut album in late 2010. So, we've been listening to them all through 2011. "If You Wanna" is one of best singles to be released from "What Did You Expect From the Vaccines?"

Young Blood by The Naked and Famous
This song always reminds me of the beach and the sea. It could be one of the best soundtracks from the summer of 2011.

Colours by Grouplove
This American indie rock band recorded a nice zippy song in 2011. Dancing to "Colours" was fun this summer.

Lotus Flower by Radiohead
Thom Yorke made an impressive impact on summer on Radiohead's new album, "The King of Limbs," with the brilliant song "Lotus Flower" -- and with his dance moves.

The Death of You and Me by Noel Gallagher
The Oasis legend came back with a successful rebirth. "The Death of You and Me" was such a sweet song for the end of the summer.

Junk of the Heart (Happy) by The Kooks
Some songs seem like they're written for summer, and "Junk of the Heart" is one of them. Lucky Turkish audiences had a chance to listen to The Kooks live, at the Rock'n Coke 2011 music festival in İstanbul.

Days by The Drums
I said that some songs seem like they're written for summer. Well, some bands seem like they record albums only for summer. The Drums came back with their second album and made our summer more entertaining.

La Fée Verte by Kasabian
Although Kasabian released "Velociraptor!" in September, we can count "La Fée Verte" as a late summer song. It deserves it.
