Board of Trustees Meets
The Bilkent University Board of Trustees met on September 28, 2011. Present at the meeting were Board Chairman Ali Doğramacı, İlker Baybars, Turgay Coşkun, Gülsev Kale, Ahmet Nalbur, Ersin Özince, Muhsin Saraçlar, Lütfü Sel and Rector Abdullah Atalar.
At the meeting, the Board of Trustees discussed a number of proposals that had been put forth by the University Senate.
Among these was the establishment of a Department of Architecture in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture. The Board of Trustees reviewed the final procedures for the establishment of the department, accepting the proposal of the University Senate.

Bilkent Graduates Honored by President Obama as Outstanding Early-Career Scientists
Bilkent graduates Aydoğan Özcan (EE/'00) and Hatice Altuğ (PHYS/'00) are among the recipients of this year's Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers, the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers. Aydoğan Özcan is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at UCLA, and Hatice Altuğ is an assistant professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Boston University.

Table d'Hote Meal Plan Coupons Now Available
Last week's announcement about Table d'Hote serving a variety of dishes for both lunch and dinner this year was very well received. A new and more convenient way of eating at Table d'Hote, in the form of meal plans, has also been initiated. Coupons/Coupon Cards may be purchased at Marmara Restaurant or Sultan Restaurant by either cash or credit card. The different plans are shown below.
In addition to these plans, 30-meal and 50-meal coupons are also being offered.
Prof. Doğramacı to Lecture on "Pre-University Education: the Bilkent Experience"
This Wednesday, October 5, from 12:40 to 1:30 p.m., Prof. Dr. Ali Doğramacı, president of Bilkent University and chair of the Board of Trustees, will deliver the first Library Lunchtime Lecture for this semester, entitled "Pre-University Education: the Bilkent Experience." In his talk, Prof. Doğramacı will examine the significance of primary and secondary schools within Bilkent's broader vision.
The educational mission of a university is typically directed toward graduates of high schools or universities. Bilkent University excels in this area, providing world-class undergraduate and graduate education.
