Philosophy Conference to Discuss "Minds, Bodies and Problems"

On June 7 and 8, the Bilkent Department of Philosophy will host an international conference on the philosophy of mind, entitled "Minds, Bodies and Problems." In addition to five keynote talks -- by Murat Aydede (University of British Columbia), David Chalmers (New York University/Australian National University), Tim Crane (Cambridge University), Katalin Farkas (Central European University) and Shaun Gallagher (University of Memphis/University of Hertfordshire) -- the conference will feature twelve papers that were selected from among 91 submissions from 28 countries.

The authors of the papers are: François Kammerer (University Paris-Sorbonne, France), Ian O'Loughlin (University of Iowa, USA), Nicoletta Orlandi (Rice University, USA), Dan Ryder (University of British Columbia, Canada), Mog Stapleton (University of Edinburgh, UK), Simon Prosser (University of St. Andrews, UK), Kranti Saran (Harvard University, USA), Assaf Weksler (Open University, Israel), Anthony Dardis (Hofstra University, USA), Danny Pearlberg (Ohio State University, USA), Liz Disley  (Cambridge University, UK) and Axel Seemann (Bentley University, USA).

The selection process was conducted anonymously. Prof. Aydede, Asst. Prof. Sandy Berkovski, Prof. Chalmers, Prof. Crane, Asst. Prof. Hilmi Demir, Prof. Farkas, Prof. Gallagher, Asst. Prof. Kourken Michaelian, Assoc. Prof. Vincent Müller, Asst. Prof. Emre Özgen, Assoc. Prof. Erdinç Sayan, Asst. Prof. Simon Wigley and Asst. Prof. Bill Wringe served as reviewers; Asst. Prof. István Aranyosi of the Department of Philosophy is the conference organizer.
