Bilkent and TÜBİTAK to Host EU 7th Framework Programme Info-Day
The Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH) unit of the TÜBİTAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) EU Framework Programmes National Coordination Office (NCO) will be organizing an Info-Day on October 13 concerning the EU's 7th Framework Programme and the 2012 SSH directives.
Bilkent University will be hosting the event, and Provost Prof. Metin Heper, along with Prof. Dr. Yücel Altunbaşak, president of TÜBİTAK, are scheduled to give the opening speeches.
Simona Ardovino, SSH scientific officer of the European Commission, will be briefing the attendants on the 2012 agenda for research in SSH areas. Numerous NCO representatives are also scheduled to make presentations on the NCO's activities regarding Turkey's efforts and involvement in the EU's 7th Framework Programme, especially in the SSH fields.
The NCO was started in 2003, when the Turkish government assigned TÜBİTAK the responsibility of serving as the contact organization for the EU Framework Programmes. The NCO functions as a liaison between the Turkish Research Area and the European Research Area and works to forward integration between them.
