GazeteBilkent Interview Series Underway

The newly initiated series of interviews being hosted by GazeteBilkent started last week. The first interview was held on Tuesday, December 11, with Rector Abdullah Atalar as the guest. Prof. Atalar gave a brief history of the founding of Bilkent University and highlighted how the university has changed and developed greatly in just a few decades. He also provided interesting information about founder İhsan Doğramacı's childhood and teenage years.
The second interview, which took place last Thursday, was conducted with Abdullah Levent Tüzel, a member of the Human Rights Association in İstanbul and the founder of the Emek Party. Mr. Tüzel discussed the importance of increasing people's awareness regarding labor unions and workers' issues and the need for unifying action to solve problems in these areas.
On Friday, GazeteBilkent presented two guests, one of them NTV Sport's editor in chief, Fuat Akdağ, and the other Milliyet sportswriter Mehmet Demirkol. They talked about current events in the world of sports and discussed some of the controversial issues, particularly in football.
Next week, the series will bring more guests to campus, including Nasuh Mahruki, who is a Bilkent graduate as well as a famous mountain climber, writer and photographer. He will talk about "Being a Bilkent Grad" on Wednesday, December 19 in FFB-06 at 12:40 p.m. On Thursday, December 20, journalist Ertuğrul Kürkçü will focus on "Student Movements in the 60s" in his interview, which will take place in C-Block Auditorium at 12:40 p.m.
Following these interviews, GazeteBilkent will soon surprise Bilkent students with many more well-known guests.
