TROX Competition Tests IAED Students' Design Skills
Last semester, 98 students in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design participated in a competition that involved integrating interior architecture with mechanical design. A university-industry collaborative effort between Bilkent and the TROX Company (a supplier of air conditioning technology worldwide), the competition was conducted within the context of the course IAED342-Building Performance: Services, and coordinated by Assist. Prof. Yasemin Afacan of the department and Kemal Işın from TROX.
The project required students, working individually with the TROX Company, to integrate a heating, ventilation and air conditioning element into a studio design project. The eight projects judged to have best achieved this objective received awards. The winners were: Başak Erdinçer, Uras Gezer, Vedat Kuzeytepe, Cansu Palancı, Burcu Giray, Gökce Kutsal, Zeyca Örer and Nagihan Türkoğlu. The award ceremony was held in the TROX Ankara office at TepePrime on June 1, 2012.
The prize-winning projects were exhibited in the TROX central office in İstanbul, and later in various TROX branches throughout Europe.
