A Day in the Country: International Faculty Trip to Nallıhan
International faculty members welcomed spring with a day trip to Nallıhan, located about a 2-hour drive away from Ankara, on Saturday, April 27. This beautiful small town is known for its rich biodiversity, hosting 170 bird species in its bird sanctuary as well as being a fruit- and vegetable-growing area of the country.
The excursion attracted 21 participants. In Nallıhan, the group had a chance to visit the necropolis of the ancient city of Juliopolis, the tomb of Tapduk Emre and the old juniper trees near Akdere village. On their way back to Ankara, they spent an hour in another small town famous as a tourist destination, Beypazarı, to shop for locally produced food items and fruit juice.
"It's great to have more and more people going on the trips," declared International Center Coordinator Berna Örge. "As I keep saying, these trips are one of the best opportunities for international faculty members from different departments and schools to meet and get to know each other. With the beautiful weather on our side, we had a really nice time in Nallıhan."
