Bilkent University to Collaborate With Customs and Trade Ministry

On April 29, Rector Abdullah Atalar and Customs and Trade Ministry Undersecretary Ziya Altunyaldız signed an agreement, entitled "A Collaborative Protocol between the Customs and Trade Ministry and Bilkent University with Regard to Conducting Scientific Research and Studies." The signing ceremony took place in Mithat Çoruh Conference Hall at Bilkent.
The ceremony started with Prof. Atalar's welcoming remarks, in which he noted that this protocol will enable academic support for exploring the wealth of data on trade to be strengthened, while also allowing for graduate and institutional training to take place. Bilkent Loses Gökmen Can Çıtak, POLS Third-Year Student
Gökmen Can Çıtak, a third- year student in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013, due to a terminal illness.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our student, and wish to extend our condolences to his family, friends and the Bilkent community.
Alumni Homecoming, May 18-19
The annual Alumni Homecoming weekend will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 18 and 19.
This year's Alumni Homecoming will open with a concert by Candan Erçetin at the Odeon on the evening of May 18. The annual picnic will be held at the Main Campus festival area on Sunday, May 19 from 1 p.m. on.

Graduation Ball Coming Up!
The 2013 Graduation Ball will be held on June 12 and 13 in the Bilkent Hotel's Sakarya Ballroom at 8 p.m., and will feature a live concert by Turkish pop singer Altay.

Sinefest '13 Awards Announced at Gala Night

The national film festival Sinefest '13 concluded on Sunday with a gala night at the BLIS Performance Hall. Held this year between April 26 and May 5, Sinefest is a showcase for Turkish cinema. During the festival, Turkish films from 2012 were screened and voted on by a jury. Sinefest also included discussions with members of the film industry and three workshops. The gala night hosted cinema professionals including Hatice Aslan, Berk Hakman, M. Caner Alper, Mehmet Binay, Demir Demirkan, Yusuf Berkan Demirbağ, Can Gürzap and Tural Polat.
