BY EFE UTKU URAL (HART/IV)

Hi folks! I know everybody started to get busy with the heavy schedule of December at school but don't forget: short artistic breaks prevent nervous breaks. So, please let me to introduce you the newest art and culture events of this week.

Library Hosts a Master until January 7

Last Thursday, the Library Art Gallery opened its doors for the extraordinary exhibition of Prof. Oktay Anılanmert, and I had the chance to have a little chat with this extremely humanitarian artist. While viewing his engravings together, I asked about the "emptiness feeling" in his paintings, and he kindly explained that he likes being plain and sees no reason to magnify the brushstrokes. He also explained that the reason he leaves a "calculated space" in his paintings is to create a contrast for the balance of the drawing concept. After keeping these statements in mind, his multi-aesthetic engravings became much more meaningful.

Prof. Anılanmert born in 1939 in Istanbul and finished Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts. He became a professor in 1989. Now, he is the chairman of the Graphic Design Department of Kadir Has University.
Anılanmert's exhibition will hang until January 7, and you can visit the Library Art Gallery everyday, except Sundays, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.. Put this exhibition in your to do list and please visit it before the end of fall semester.
