UNAM Researcher Receives Award from METU Parlar Foundation
Assistant Professor Tamer Uyar of the UNAM-Institute of Materials Science and Nanotechnology received the 2010 METU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Parlar Foundation Research Incentive Award. Dr. Uyar received this award for his outstanding scientific activities in the field of polymer science, materials science, and fiber science.
Dr. Uyar received his B.S. degree in 1998 from METU where he double majored in chemistry education and chemistry. He got his Master's degrees in chemistry (METU, 2000) and materials science and engineering (University of Cincinnati, 2002). He received his Ph.D. from North Carolina State University in fiber and polymer science in 2005. He carried out postdoctoral studies at Case Western Reserve University in macromolecular science and engineering (2005-2006). In 2006-2008, Dr. Uyar was an asst. prof. at Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) at Aarhus University, Denmark. Dr. Uyar joined the UNAM in 2009, and his current research interests are polymeric materials, nanofibers, nanotextile, and nanocomposites.
