Turkish Translator and Poet Nazmi Ağıl at Bilkent

The Department of English Language and Literature is proud to present a lecture by Turkish translator and poet Nazmi Ağıl. He is the translator of the works of many world-famous authors and poets, such as William Wordsworth's "Prelude," Geoffrey Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales"  and Alexander Pope's "The Rape of the Lock."

Dr. Ağıl is also known as a poet in his own right. He published his first book of poetry, "Gökçe Yazı," in 1998.

Dr. Ağıl's lecture is entitled "Gelse Otursa Meclise Bir İngiliz Ozan." Its subject is the journey that the translator undertakes when translating the works of each new poet, and is based on his own experiences. It will be in Turkish and will take place on Thursday, October 20, at 5:40 p.m. in G-160. Everyone interested in translation, poetry and literature is invited. Please note that refreshments will be served. For more information, you may contact elit@bilkent.edu.tr.
