Academic Career Club Meets with Rector Abdullah Atalar on Teachers' Day
The Academic Career Club held a breakfast with Rector Abdullah Atalar last Saturday, November 24, Teachers' Day.
Since the club's purpose is to bring together students who are considering working in academia, the meeting with Prof. Atalar was an excellent opportunity for members to obtain information about possible academic careers as well as about Bilkent University.
The students had a chance to ask questions concerning these subjects, and also to discuss related matters, including difficulties regarding doctoral degrees and programs, the advantages and disadvantages of academic life, and issues concerning the campus cafeterias and dormitories.
As a remembrance of the occasion and also to celebrate Teachers' Day, the club presented a gift to Prof Atalar. Following the breakfast, club members said, "It was very pleasant to spend time with our rector in an informal environment, and we would like to hold this activity again in the future."
