Bilkent Aikido Club Students Attend International Seminar
The first international Aikido seminar to be organized by the Turkey Wushu Federation (TWF) was held at Altınpark Judo Dojo. There were more than 250 participants from Turkey, Azerbaijan, KKTC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus), England and France at the two-day event. Members of the Bilkent Aikido Club were among them.
Some groups performed demonstrations for the well-known Turkish 7th Dan teacher Nebi Vural, who came from France for this event. All the participants practiced together and also learned some new techniques that were demonstrated to them.
Formalities included a speech on behalf of the management council of the federation, stating that the organization will work ceaselessly to advance Aikido in Turkey. The head of the TWF Aikido Technical Committee, Tansel Kılıç, presented Nebi Vural with a tanto, a Japanese short sword. Nebi Sensei gave a samurai sword to Mr. Kılıç as a gift.
Some students of the Aikido dojo at Bilkent described their reaction to the event. "In a word, excellent," said one. "It was an extraordinary experience, and I'm looking forward to the next seminar." Another expressed similar enthusiasm: "I'm eagerly awaiting the next seminar. It was really great to meet the Ankara Aikido community."
