US Under Secretary of State Addresses Bilkent Students
Tara Sonenshine, US Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, visited Bilkent University on November 29. Addressing a group of undergraduate students from the Departments of Communication and Design, International Relations and Political Science, Under Secretary Sonenshine gave a talk entitled "The Freedom to Communicate and Connect: Public Diplomacy in the 21st Century." The talk was followed by a question and answer session.
Ms. Sonenshine has served the Obama administration as Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs since April 2012. Following years of experience in the media, she held the position of executive vice president of the United States Institute of Peace before assuming her current role at the US State Department.
