On Thursday, May 2, the Library will host the last Lunchtime Lecture for this academic year. This week, the speaker is Dr. Tijen Akşit, director of the Faculty Academic English program and assistant professor in the Graduate School of Education, who will deliver a talk entitled "English for Academic Purposes: Myths, Challenges and Opportunities." The intent of this talk is to clarify the concept of English for Academic Purposes (EAP), and discuss current myths, challenges and opportunities related to its teaching and learning.

EAP is conceptualized and implemented in different ways in different contexts. However, there are always misconceptions as to how it should be approached, and how to cope with emerging difficulties or unfamiliar situations. Still, EAP provides myriad avenues for academic, intellectual, professional and personal development. The lecture will be in English and will take place in the Art Gallery of Main Campus Library at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday. As usual, lunchtime refreshments will be provided.

For Spring Fest, the Library will be hosting two events this week. On Tuesday afternoon (if you read this article early enough!), you can join in our LibQuiz at Main Campus Library, where you'll have the chance to answer some library-related questions and win a prize.

On Friday afternoon, the library will have a stand in the main Spring Fest grass area where you can participate in a literature-related game of "Adam Asmaca" (Hangman). Again, there will be prizes! Please check the Spring Fest program and our website for details. The Library wishes all Bilkenters an enjoyable Spring Fest.
