DAAD at Bilkent

On Wednesday, March 9, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in room B-205, the head of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Information Centre of Ankara, Dr. Nilgün Yüce, will come to Bilkent and conduct an information presentation about the possibilities and perspectives of studying, researching, and teaching in Germany. Dr. Yüce will also talk about the possibilities of funding, provided not only by DAAD but also by the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft - German Research Foundation) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. All academic personnel are cordially invited to this event.

DAAD is the largest funding organization in the world supporting the international exchange of students and scholars. DAAD in Turkey provides scholarships for Ph.D. and Master's level study, language, culture, and specialized courses in German as well as for research and teaching projects between German and Turkish Universities. Thus, the offerings of DAAD are of interest for undergraduates, Ph.D. students, post docs, researchers, scientists, instructors, and professors.

Bilkent students have traditionally taken a large number of DAAD scholarships. Last year the relationship between DAAD and Bilkent finally reached a new step. They both agreed to establish a German language assistant position at the Foreign Languages Unit. Since last September Mr. Andreas Volk, who is the first to fill this position, is teaching German here. It is even aimed to intensify the relation in future: recent discussions have theorized installing a permanent lectureship for German language teaching. For some time, plans have been in place to establish a German lectureship in the Faculty of Law. This position has already been announced in German media.
