Because I work also with Turkish Basketball Federation, music and basketball go together in my life. Here is another person that finds music and basketball intersected in his life. Efes Pilsen's successful player Sinan Güler answered some questions about music. Here is the interview:

First of all, how does music take a role in your life?
I think music is in every aspect of my life. Wherever I can listen to music, in the car, at my house, in an airplane, going for a road trip, before the game, I listen to music.

What kinds of music do you like listening to?
I am a big hip-hop fan to be honest. Secondly I listen to a lot of classic rock and some heavy metal also, but in general I listen to everything from hip-hop to jazz even to a certain extent, classical music.

I love classic rock; I think it has so much meaning in the lyrics and such a synergy between the lyrics and the music in it. There are certain things that I like in alternative rock also; it is fun to listen to it. I am getting familiar with the indie type of music in the last year or so; I enjoy the music that groups like Muse makes.

In recent years, basketball video games firms use rock songs in the playlist.
I think rock and metal are good genres of better motivational music to listen to prior to the game. Hip-hop is good also but I tend to listen to the music more than the lyrics when I am trying to motivate and concentrate for the game.

Your favorite 3 solo artists?
Eminem: He is one of the best hip-hop artists that alive.
Justin Timberlake: He is the best entertainer out there.
Michael Jackson: King of Pop, I don't think he needs any more explanation.

Best 3 bands?
Metallica: Best band out of all the genres I think
The Beatles: I don't think they need any explanation either.
Van Halen: I really like their sound.

Could you name your favorite albums?
Eminem, Recovery: What a comeback by him!
Michael Jackson, Bad: It is one of best albums I have listened to Justin Timberlake, Future Sex/Love Sound: One of the few albums I listened to where every song is of hit quality.
Limp Bizkit, Chocolate Starfish and Hot Dog Flavored Water: It is an album that I still listen to and still enjoy every single song every time.

What are the songs of your life?
Michael Jackson, "Man in the Mirror": I remember playing this song over and over again when I was younger.
Metallica, "Wherever I May Roam": The beginning part of the song is what I listen to right before I go out on the court for warm ups.
Journey, "Don't Stop Believing": it is a great song.
The Beatles, "Yellow Submarine": It is a song I listen to when I need to lift my mood.

What about the music festivals? Have you had a chance to attend any of the big music festivasl?
I haven't been to any big festivals to be honest. My goal is to watch live performances or concerts by Eminem, Justin Timberlake, Metallica, and Jay-Z. Maybe some day.

Last, Do you listen to Turkish music?
Turkish music is something I listen to also. I really like rock music mostly. Teoman, Mor ve Ötesi, Manga, and Şebnem Ferah are the some of the artists/bands. I also like old songs of MFÖ.
