Dr. Kennedy's Book on Edward Said Published in Korean
Edward Said: A Critical Introduction, by Valerie Kennedy, who teaches in the Department of English Language and Literature at Bilkent, is now available in four languages: English, two Chinese languages, and now Korean. Edward Said was a renowned Palestinian-American literary theorist who is nest known for his 1978 book Orientalism.
Kennedy's book, a groundbreaking study of Edward Said's work, was published in England and in the U.S. in 2000 by Polity Press, and it now exists in three translations. It was first translated into Chinese complex characters (Taiwan: Rye Publications, 2003) and then into simplified Chinese (Nanking: Jiangsu People's Publishing House, 2006).The Korean translation (Seoul: Galmuri Publishing House, 2011) appeared in January 2011. At the request of the Taiwanese and Korean publishers, Valerie Kennedy wrote a new Foreword and a new Preface for the Chinese complex character and Korean translations respectively.
