47th Library Week Celebrated
Last week, Bilkent University celebrated the 47th Library Week in Turkey with a varied program of fun and cultural activities in the Art Gallery. The Library hosted two musical events: on Tuesday and Wednesday students from the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts gave mini-concerts. Also on Wednesday, Prof. Talat Halman, dean of humanities, delivered an entertaining presentation on Turkish love poetry for Library Week. And finally, on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, the Library organized movie shows of the Turkish film Av Mevsimi and the American movie Inception.
Unfortunately, the lecture by Turgut Özakman originally scheduled for Tuesday had to be postponed due to health problems but will hopefully take place at a future time to be announced. The Library Staff hope all those who participated in these activities found them enjoyable.
This week, on Tuesday, April 5 at 12:40, the Library Art Gallery will host a talk in English by Mr. İsa Bal, head sommelier, entitled "Fine Dining and the Fat Duck: How to be a Head Sommelier in the Twenty-First Century," organized by Bilkent's School of Tourism and Hotel Management.
