If someone asks me to list my favorite bands, I would count the Strokes in the top 5. Angles was released on March 21. It seems like the band kept its promise and recorded an album similar to their successful debut album, Is This It? The direction of the songs starts in their first album, but of course they have changed their sound a little over time. The overdubbed guitar riffs are especially remarkable. Music editors and fans also loved Angles. The album was placed in the Top 10 in many countries' charts. "Under Cover of Darkness", "Taken For a Fool," and "You Are So Right" are the leading vehicles of the album.
Spin Magazine interviewed the members of The Strokes. "We did f**k all for five years, and as soon as we got back together, people wanted to pay us more money than we'd ever seen," said the guitarist, Nick Valensi. Vocalist Julian Casablancas says, "People want a rock band of their generation they can trust - that's the vibe I'm getting." The most interesting part of the interview is what drummer Moretti had to say: "I'd say the album is like a prostitute. I hope everyone has a night with it."
Foo Fighters Still Rocks!
Nirvana's drummer Dave Grohl is the leader of the band Foo Fighters, which also put an end to their 4-year break by releasing their seventh studio album. It seems like we missed their songs so much. The highly anticipated album Wasting Lights sold 250,000 in its first week and climbed to number one in the album charts. "Rope" and "Miss the Misery" have already been added to Foo Fighters' best-of lists. The band will be touring through the summer. They will be headlining many festivals in Europe. If you have missed them and want to see their incredible live performances, you should catch them in this summer.
Speaking of Nirvana, I could not pass without mentioning Kurt Cobain. "It is better to burn out than to fade away," he said and killed himself 17 years ago on April 5. We still memorialize him with his lyrics: "There is nothing on the top but a bucket and a mop / And an illustrated book about birds / You see a lot up there but don't be scared." - with respect…
