Poet and Presenter Ceyhun Yılmaz Draws Large Audience at Bilkent

Well-known comedian, poet and radio and television presenter Ceyhun Yılmaz gave a talk on "Poetry and Literature" at Bilkent on March 7. As a writer of numerous poems, which have appeared in five books, he shared his views on master-apprentice relations in literature. He also discussed his ideas on why poems do not have to be based on personal experiences and the difference between sorrow and melancholy -- in which man himself lies at the root.

Yılmaz began his radio career in 1999 and has been presenting the "Ceyhun Yılmaz Show," which he devotes in part to the works of important poets, since 2003. He is also the presenter of the TV football program "21."

In response to questions from the large audience, Yılmaz mentioned his acting background and the bit part he played in the TV series "Leyla ve Mecnun" last week. He ended his talk by reading Cemal Süreya's famous poem, "Sana Giden Yollar Kapalı."
