EX LIBRIS: News From the Library Winners of the Library Week Writing Competition Announced

Last week, Bilkent University Library celebrated the 48th Library Week in Turkey with a series of cultural and intellectual activities. During Monday lunchtime, young students from the Adnan Saygun Music School joined Bilkent University students and faculty members for a communal reading session outdoors entitled "Bring a Book, Let's Read Together." Music and dance continued to be a theme during the week, with a workshop on Latin American dance by Prof. Barbaros Tansel (IE), which was very popular among the librarians, classical recitals by students from the Faculty ofMusic and a folk dance performance by students from the Özel Bilkent Elementary School. OnThursday, the Library was opened for a series of tours to departments and collections not usually visited by users. And finally, on Friday, Rector Prof. Abdullah Atalar presentedprizes to the winners of the Library Week Writing Competition: Nur Kurnaz (LAW), who won the first prize for her essay entitled "Babamın Kitapları" ("My Father's Books"), and runners-up Murathan Kurfalı (CS) and Püren Çetin (GRA). The three winning essays can now be read online on the Library's website. Congratulations to the three authors, and thanks to everyone who participated in all these activities and helped to celebrate Library Week in such style!
