World Poetry Day

Bilkent's Center for Turkish Literature has been celebrating March 21, UNESCO's "World Poetry Day," annually since 2000 by holding various activities. The theme of this year's celebration is "The Rose in Turkish Poetry."

At the event, Department of Turkish Literature students will read selected poems from divan literature, modern Turkish literature and folk literature, and faculty members Prof. Semih Tezcan, Assoc. Prof. Nuran Tezcan and renowned poet Hilmi Yavuz will talk about rose-themed poems.

The World Poetry Day program will take place at C Block Auditorium on March 21 in the FEASS Building from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served from 4:40 to 5 p.m. Everyone, including those who like roses and those who dislike them, is welcome to attend.
