Department of Theater Marks World Theater Day

Theater

With a carnival and theater play, Bilkent celebrated World Theater Day with the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. Scenes from famous plays were presented from plays such as Romeo and Juliet, King Oedipus, Antigone and Julius Caesar. The plays performed at Main Campus drew considerable interest from Bilkent students with talented performers who brought the medieval world to life on stage.

Theater

“I think that was a great opportunity to create a connection between the faculty of performing arts and others,” said second year student of performing arts actor Sedat Yılmaz. “We tried to show the entertaining side of theatre. We are grateful to our instructors and our university for giving us this chance.”
“That was really amusing,” said audience member Deniz Özdamar, (IE/III), “Performing different plays briefly made it more interesting. That was a colorful show.”

Theater

Burak Otluoğlu, (TRIN/III), said, “Using the campus interactively was a different experience, not only for the talented actors but also for us.”

Many countries around the world, including Turkey, celebrated World Theater Day, which has been held every year since 1962, on March 27.
