Orhan Alisbah Remembered as MATH Students are Awarded Fellowships

Three students, Emre Can Sertöz (MATH/IV), Ahmet Kabakulak (MATH/IV), and İpek Tuvay (MATH/Ph.D.) received this year’s "Orhan Alisbah Fellowship" at a Department of Mathematics award ceremony on Monday, October 18.

The fellowship is conferred in memory of Prof. Orhan Alisbah (1910-1989), one of Turkey's best known mathematicians. Every year since 1998, Prof. Bilsel Alisbah, son of Orhan Alisbah, has awarded fellowships to Bilkent University's Department of Mathematics students. This fellowship helps keep the memory of Prof. Alisbah alive so he can continue to act as an exemplary role model for young mathematicians.
