Gençlik Kumpanyası: Working for Young People's Rights

Gençlik Kumpanyası (Youth Band), a TDP (Toplumsal Duyarlılık Projeleri/Social Awareness Projects) project, aims to raise awareness regarding the rights of youth. The volunteers visit villages and towns, communicate with young people and try to make them aware of their rights. The project group employs various methods, such as creating art work, staging plays and holding public discussion sessions in which volunteers and the target group come together to talk about ways of solving the problems of young people. In 2009, Gençlik Kumpanyası volunteers rode a train from Ankara to Kayseri, Malatya, Sivas and Diyarbakır to explain youth rights through drama, dance and workshops.

Then, in December 2011, the "Youth Panel" was organized and hosted 30 students from universities in seven regions. Youth Panel participants had the opportunity to listen to lectures by academicians and to attend workshops, during which they discussed young people's rights and government policies regarding youth. They also built strong relationships that will enable them to continue inspiring others to promote public awareness of youth issues.

Gençlik Kumpanyası invites you to work with us on a new international youth project, which is being planned for the summer of 2012.
