IEEE Graduate Research Conference 2011


This year, the IEEE Graduate Research Conference (GRC), organized by the Department of EEE and Bilkent IEEE Student Branch, was held for the 22nd time in March. During the activity, graduate students of Bilkent EEE Department presented their research activities. Different from previous years, the conference hosted 11 guest speakers, who are graduate speakers themselves, from Boğaziçi, Hacettepe, Koç, and Sabancı Universities.

There were 68 oral presentations in three parallel sessions. The speakers presented their projects and shared interesting research outcomes, each followed by questions and answers. A total of 11 sessions covered various areas of electronics including communications, signal processing, electromagnetics, biomedical engineering, electronics, photonics, microelectromechanical systems, systems and control, robotics, networks, and nanotechnology. In addition to oral presentations, there were two poster sessions, one in the morning and in the afternoon.

At the end of the day, the best three presenters were given an award by Bilkent IEEE Student Branch. Sedat Nizamoğlu, Atilla Özgür Çakmak, and Sayım Gökyar were awarded by Best Presentation Award, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, as voted by the scientific committee. Can Uran, Türker Coşkun, and Sercan Arık were selected for the the Best Poster Award by the votes of the visitors and undergraduate students.
