Turkish Premiere of Aussie Play Held at Bilkent Theatre
The Australian playwright Andrew Bovell's 2008 award-winning play When the Rain Stops Falling made its Turkish premiere on April 27 at Bilkent Theatre. Translated into Turkish by Ezgi Yantürk under the title Yağmur Durduğunda, the play is directed by the prestigious Afife Theatre Award winner Hakan Çimenser.
When the Rain Stops Falling deals with the effects climate change has on the human psyche and behavior, while presenting this change to be caused by human action. Encompassing events spanning over four generations between 1959 and 2039, the play depicts how the devastating impact they had on nature affected humans in return, especially how human nature has been corrupted and debased as a result.
Upcoming performances will be held on May 4, 6, 11, and 13 at 7 p.m. at the Bilkent Theatre. Tickets are available on www.mybilet.com and at the counters in the theater building, ext. 1775.
