Prepping for London 2012, Student Wins Silver in Fencing
Kerem Seyfi Yıldırım (CTIS/II) won second place in the men's sword style event during the Interuniversity Fencing Competition. The tournament was organized by the University Sports Federation in Eskişehir held from April 20 to 22. Yıldırım also won first place in 2009 and 2010.
Kerem has been fencing for 9 years, and he has been the Turkey Champion for 7 years, competing on the national team. Currently, he is preparing for 2012 London Olympics. Two other Bilkent students participated in the competition: Volkan Gül (CS/I) and Alper Çaltekin (MAN/II).
Volkan Gül placed 10th place in the sword category. In Fiore, the Italian school of fencing, Alper Çaltekin competed well but did not secure a ranking.
