Anglo-American Lit Conference Held
The departments of English Language and Literature and American Culture and Literature held an undergratulate conference on "Representing the Other" on April 28 and 29. The conference, which spanned two days and saw the presentation of 17 papers by students from Bilkent, Ankara University, Ege University, Hacettepe University, İstanbul Kültür University, METU, and Sorbonne-Nouvelle University on the subject of "the other" in literature, the media, or gender studies.
The conference was opened with an introductory speech by the Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Letters, Prof. Talât Halman. The opening speech of the second day was given by Asst. Prof. Ayşe Çelikkol who teaches in both departments.
In welcoming participations, Dr. Gül Kurtuluş, assistant chair of the Department of English Language and Literature, said, "It is always encouraging and challenging to be part of the project, the participants of which are enthusiastic youngsters, with the burning fire of learning in their hearts and an endless quest for knowledge in their minds."
