Alper Şen Receives Hewlett Packard Award

Asst. Prof. Alper Şen, a faculty member in the Industrial Engineering Department, has received the Hewlett Packard (HP) Laboratories Innovation Research Award 2010. This is third time his work has been recognized with this award.

Based on an open, competitive call for proposals, the Innovation Research Program (IRP) is designed to create opportunities for researchers around the world to engage in groundbreaking collaborative research with HP.

In 2010 the IRP attracted 375 proposals from 323 researchers from 202 universities in 36 countries. After careful review by HP Labs scientists and technologists, only 62 applicants were honored with the award.

Awardees will work with HP Labs researchers to help generate the next generation of technology breakthroughs in the areas of information explosion, dynamic cloud services, content transformation, intelligent infrastructure, and sustainability.

Dr. Alper Şen received this award for his project proposal titled “Design and Analysis of Procurement Contracts and Related Bidding Processes.” He was the only recipient of this award from Turkey.

Other recipients are from 48 institutions in 13 countries.
