Bilkent Faculty Receive TÜBİTAK Awards

Two professors from Bilkent University have been recognized by The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) for 2010. Assoc. Prof. Bahar Yetiş Kara from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Asst. Prof. Selin Sayek Böke from the Department of Economics are the recipients of the TÜBİTAK Incentive Awards.

Bahar Yetiş Kara received her Ph.D. from Bilkent in 1999. She won the UPS-SOLA Best Dissertation Award in 2001. Dr. Kara worked at McGill University as a post-doctoral research fellow for two years before returning to Bilkent University. She received a TÜBA GEBİP award in 2008. She was also awarded the IAP (Inter Academy Panel) 2009 award for young scientists.

Selin Sayek Böke received her Ph.D. from Duke University in 1999. She worked at Bentley College as an assistant professor for two years before joining the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as an economist. During her two years with the IMF, Dr. Böke also taught at the Georgetown University Public Policy Institute. She joined the Department of Economics at Bilkent University in 2003. In 2006 she was awarded the Excellence Award in Global Economic Affairs, granted by the Kiel Institute for the World Economy for her work on the effects of foreign direct investment (FDI) on the FDI recipient economy.
